Kookaburra sounds
Kookaburras deliver single sharp cries, overlapping duets and wild rolling laughter that ranges from manic chuckles to full crazy choruses, some layered with cicadas, magpies or distant thunder. Several recordings capture dawn or midday choruses from groups in eucalypt groves that the category name does not reveal. Most clips run between ten and sixteen seconds so they function as repeatable beds rather than brief stings.
