Brown Pelican sounds

Brown pelican calls range from short dry beak clacks and single clicks to longer drawn-out throaty groans, guttural cries and hoarse nest calls, with some sounding squeaky or donkey-like. The recordings also include white pelicans, various chicks from freshly hatched peeps to six-week-old begging, and full colony ambiences at nesting sites or on the water. All clips run between five and eighteen seconds so they function as distinct vocal events or short scene setters rather than continuous background.
