Coot sounds

Coot calls range from single sharp signals and short outbursts to long resonant exchanges and choruses among reeds or on water, some close and dry while others echo across ponds. Groups include adult territorial fights, squabbles and chases plus separate recordings of peeping or begging chicks and family feeding scenes. Most last around twenty seconds so they function as sustained beds rather than brief stings.
