Shovel sounds

Shovels dig into snow, sand, mud, gravel and soil in single strikes or long rhythmic sessions, some close and crisp while others are distant or mixed with wind, footsteps and ringing metal. A few capture coal being thrown into locomotive or ship furnaces, and one records a plastic spatula. Lengths run from one-second impacts to two-minute continuous performances that layer activity with background texture.
