Crickets sounds
Crickets chirp alone or in dense noisy masses, always close and clear in the short takes but layered with birds, frogs, owls, cicadas, flies, wind, rivers, dogs, traffic or bells in the longer beds. Several recordings blend them into full nocturnal atmospheres the category name does not suggest. Lengths run from one-second single chirps to five-minute continuous soundscapes that establish steady background.
